Your privacy is important to us. VoteVerse is operated by the Lead Support Development and Youth Empowerment Initiative (LSDYEI), a registered Nigerian non-profit. This policy explains how we handle your data, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
1. What we collect
We collect only the minimum data needed to give you a good learning experience:
- Your language preference (e.g. English, Hausa, Yorùbá, Igbo, Pidgin).
- Your age bracket (15–17, 18–25, or 26–35) — to keep young users safe.
- Your state (optional) — to understand where our users are.
We do NOT ask for or collect: your full name, phone number, email address, national ID, BVN, bank details, or any other personally identifiable information. Your session is anonymous — we identify you only by a random code stored in your browser.
If you choose to provide a display name, bio, or avatar in your Profile, that is optional and publicly visible only if you enable public profile.
2. How we use your data
- To personalise your learning and show content in your preferred language.
- To track your progress — completed lessons, quiz scores, coins earned, streaks, and badges.
- To give you rewards — redeeming coins for airtime or data.
- To improve the platform — understanding which states and age groups use VoteVerse.
3. AI conversations
When you chat with the VoteVerse AI tutor:
- Conversations are stored for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
- Messages may be reviewed by our team to check for quality and accuracy.
- AI responses are strictly non-partisan — we do not promote any political party, candidate, or ideology.
- Do not share sensitive personal information (like your name, address, phone number, or ID) with the AI tutor — it is not designed to protect that kind of data.
4. How long we keep your data
- Profile & progress data: Kept while you use the platform. If you are inactive for 24 months, we may delete your data.
- Chat conversations: Deleted after 30 days.
- Redemption requests: Kept for 12 months for audit purposes.
5. Your rights
Under the NDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — see what data we hold about you.
- Correct — fix inaccurate data.
- Delete — request that we remove all your data.
- Withdraw consent — at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, type "DELETE MY DATA" in the chat, go to your Profile settings and tap "Delete My Data", or email us at info@lsdyei.org. We will process your request within 30 days.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not share your data with political parties, campaigns, or advertisers. We may use trusted service providers (e.g. AI hosting, file storage) who are bound by the same privacy standards.
